ABOUT US

West Essex Cricket Club was formed in 1921, are members of The Hamro Foundation Essex League and are also affiliated to the Metropolitan Essex District Cricket Board and Essex County Cricket Club.

Our season runs from the end of April to early September. We run 4 sides on Saturdays in the  Essex League so we can offer cricket at all levels for both high quality players looking for 1st X1 cricket and those of who just want to enjoy a game of cricket at the weekend.

We are a friendly , inclusive & diverse club with an open membership policy. We are Clubmark accredited with Community Amateur Sports Club status . We are a club of volunteers who assist by coaching juniors, umpiring and scoring matches, rolling, watering and preparing wickets, managing our social media channels  and seeking grants and sponsorship. We encourage all members to find ways other than playing to contribute to the club. We have an active social scene and welcome all members to attend our regular social events.

All sides play home games at The Rolls Sports Ground in Highams Park where we have 2 cricket grounds and a brand new 2 bay net facility. We expect to have a new build clubhouse open for members in late 2024.

We have an active and growing Junior section which has over 50 members from the age of 8 up to 15. The Junior section practice on Friday nights and play fixtures every Sunday morning throughout the Summer. We currently have 7 ECB qualified coaches including 3 female coaches . The Junior section also play 6-A-Side indoor cricket during the Winter in local competitions and can attend weekly coaching sessions from October to March.

 

Since 2017 we have participated in the ECB All Stars Cricket programme for 5 to 8 year old boys and girls. Sessions are run on a Friday evening with registrations open until the end of May 2024 for this year's programme. We are again running the Dynamos Cricket programme which is for 8 - 11 year old beginners and girls. These sessions are run on a Friday evening from May to August, with a girls only session on Wednesdays.
