Mo Zahour, Chair of the Cricket Committee, was the deserved winner of the Arthur Speakman Award for his leadership and volunteer efforts on behalf of the Club in 2021  and since becoming Chair in 2018.

Mo has been instrumental in the progress  we have made in recent years through our Club Development Plan. He led the Crowdfunding campaign that allowed us to purchase an electronic scoreboard  and has been the main driver  of our most recent project to install a new 2 lane net facility at The Rolls.

Mo was hugely involved with the Food Bank Collections we arranged  in support of the Highams Park Food Hub which benefits less fortunate families in our local area.

Mo also Chairs the Team Selection Committee and manages our Indoor Adult AX1.

Emran Raja is part of our junior coaching team. He has gained a Level 1 Foundation  Coach qualification and currently coaches and manages our Under 13 team in their indoor and outdoor seasons. He has two sons in the Junior Cricket Section.

Emran was the Lead Activator on our ECB Dynamos Cricket programme in 2021 and also supports our All Stars Cricket sessions.

Emran still finds time to play for our Adult 4th X1 and especially enjoys the games in which he is able to play alongside his son Younis.

Kamran Ashraf is our current 3rd X1 captain and has been in that role for the last 2 seasons which have seen the side achieve a runners up spot in the Pettini Division in 2020 and winning the Essex League 3rd X1 Division 3 in 2021.

Kamran's association with West Essex began more than 10 years ago when his twin sons joined our Junior Section. Both are now enjoying success in our senior 2nd X1.

Like our other volunteer captains Kamran is fully committed to his role which sees him first at the ground on match days and last to leave. There are a huge number of tasks that need to be completed both before and after a game and it is the captain's responsibility to ensure that all these tasks are completed. Even when they return home there is still the need for captains to record the full match scorecard on play-cricket.com to keep the Essex League results and league tables up to date.

Antony Smith is one of our most recently recruited and most committed volunteers. in 2022 he was recognised as our Club Volunteer of the Year, receiving the Arthur Speakman Award.

Tony  gained his Level 1 Foundation Coach award in 2021 as well as  gaining a First Aid qualification.  This has allowed him to become our Under 11's Coach and Team Manager for both the outdoor and indoor teams.  Tony led our U11 coaching programme at Forest School last Winter which included boys and girls from our 2021 Dynamos Cricket programme and has been proactive in arranging additional sessions at The Peter May Centre to further the development of the squad.

Tony has 2 sons in our Junior Section, Dominic and Alexander,  and is a regular player in our Adult 4th X1.

Jo Barnes is one of our trained Dynamos Activators who assisted on our girls only programme this year and and also helped at our All Stars Cricket sessions.  Jo is also  involved with getting our Womens Softball sessions off the ground in 2023.

Jo has a son, Oscar, who attended our boys Dynamos programme in 2021 and 2022 and is now playing regular hard ball cricket for our Under 11 team.
